Back before the turn of the century Ebenezer Spade made his
way to Stinkwater Crik as a day laborer looking for the next job that would pay for his room and board and keep him one step ahead of his creditors. Ben had a bit
of a gambling problem and had gotten into hot water when a game went bad. He
got a job straightening nails for the crew building the Armstrong Barrel and
Box factory, but quickly tired of this job and decided to settle down in
the booming town and open a hardware store. Spade Hardware became a fixture of the
community and Mr. Spade became very wealthy with the population explosion at the time.
Even though he turned his fortune around, he still had a weakness for a game
of cards. Rumor has it there is a poker game every Friday night in the back
room of the store where his lucky card is none other than the ace of spades.
As the town has
declined over the years, so has the old hardware store. Ebenezer’s grandson has
let the building become a run down version of its former glory, but the Friday night
poker games continue.
The Spade Hardware kit depicts a 2 story brick building covered in stucco that has started to crumble and crack. It boasts ample store front display space and sidewalk clutter to detail the scene. The storefront panels can be assembled in two different ways for two distinctive store front options. See photos. Highly detailed hardware store window displays are included in this kit.
