O/On30 1:48 Scale McHenry Blacksmith
designed and produced by James and Anna Cleveland
Frenchman River Model Works
When Charles McHenry arrived in Stinkwater Crik he found that the previous smithy had burned down and had been abandoned leaving just the back stone wall and forge standing. As a blacksmith himself, Charles purchased the land and set up shop and soon became a community fixture. The ringing of the hammer could be heard for blocks as he made horse shoes and repaired wagon parts and early horse drawn farm implements. The children would stop and watch the sparks fly on their way home from school enjoying the show through the large open doors.
McHenry Blacksmith is a wooden false front building with a stone back wall with tons of character cast in place. Inside are the stone forge and bellows. The large front and side doors are a perfect opportunity for interior staging. A stump with anvil, swage block, mandrel, horseshoes, and quench barrel is also included.
