1:48 Scale Jones Brothers Garage
designed by James and Anna Cleveland
Frenchman River Model Works
The 3 Jones Brothers, being hard drinking and rowdy young men growing up in the 20's and 30's, developed quite the reputation for being excellent automobile mechanics as well as creative backwoods engineers. There is even a photograph of an innovative rear engine automobile that they created using different assorted car parts way before this was a common practice. Sadly, it has disappeared somewhere in the family archives.
This is the first kit in the Stinkwater Crik Models series. The Jones Brothers repair shop building is loaded with character. The walls depict mostly brick construction but also include stone sections as was a common construction and repair practice around the turn of the century. The walls have age and weathering cast in place that give it a well worn feeling. The cast resin wooden garage door has tons of weathered character cast in place and can be easily modeled open or closed. A neon "garage" sign adds extra interest. A stencil and printed signage is included. Additional details cast in place that set this apart include broken off bricks, loose bricks, weathered texture on bricks and concrete lintels and stonework, brick corner detail around doors and windows and prototypical thickness of the walls.
Great details such as, car lift, loaded work bench, a stack of tires, car part junk pile and steel drums round this kit out nicely. Add in a gas pump set to convert this repair shop into a service station.
