Back in the late 1800's the Railroad was experiencing a large increase in incoming freight due to the booming mail order catalog industry as well as the various industries and businesses flourishing around Stinkwater Crik. The solution was to build a freight depot to accommodate the growing local economy. Later on this freight depot included a Railway Express Agency office to handle pickups and deliveries. It was always a highlight of the day for the REA truck to pull up with a delivery.
This single story brick freight depot full of character is the perfect link between your rail traffic and local industries and businesses. The roof extends on one side to cover the wooden platform next to the tracks. The other side is a perfect place to stage delivery trucks loading up the day's deliveries. Lots of opportunity to stage action packed scenes. Although this structure is not based on a specific freight house, it combines many elements that would be right at home in most settings.
