1:48 Scale ACE Coal Company
designed by Thomas Yorke
"This kit was inspired by one photograph of a real structure housing The Ross Coal Co.
The model represents a stone structure with a more formal cut stone upper façade and
carved side columns. The building could represent a structure built before the turn of
the Century up until just about today depending upon the details chosen. A couple of air
conditioners and more contemporary [details] and this shop could house just about any
business today. There is a scale platform to weigh the coal going out to the town’s
customers and a low trestle on which to empty the hopper cars used to deliver it. The
trestle can be elevated or a pit can be fashioned so the track is level." ~Thomas Yorke
*Note: This kit was originally designed as a hydrocal plaster kit. We are producing it as a resin kit.
The pictured display is shown with 2 bags of coal and pickup sold separately.
The Coal Company was a central feature
in many towns due to the reliance on coal for heating. Most small coal companies
had delivery trucks that would make rounds delivering coal to homes and businesses
throughout the winter to keep their coal bins full. The ACE Coal Company is
loaded with character from the cut stone façade to the intricately detailed stone side and rear walls. This builds into a complete scene with the scales and trestles ready to place on your scenery. (*Pickup and coal sold separately)
