HO (1/87) Scale CB&Q Depot Kit

This kit is based on a standard CB&Q Depot design built in 1886 and although in a state of disrepair is still standing in Trenton, Nebraska today complete with its original stamped steel shingle roof. The building was originally built with a signalman’s bay window on the track side and no addition on the end. Later, as signals became more modernized the signalman’s bay window was removed and a freight addition was built onto the end of the original structure.

Our kit includes both the signalman’s bay window and the addition so that you may model an early or later version of this classic depot. Examples of this depot were found in many small towns along the CB&Q right of way. The building had indoor passenger waiting area/ticket counter and a separate outdoor entrance leading to the station master’s living quarters located on the second floor. As a side note, while doing research for this kit we actually were able to speak with an elderly woman who was born upstairs in the Trenton Depot while her father was the station master. The station master and his family were expected to live on the premises as part of his employment with the railroad.

This depot kit includes 4 main resin castings that make up the entire depot building and addition assembly. The main building consists of a 1-piece wall casting, complete with wood grain planks and nail holes and a 1 -piece roof casting complete with all shingles cast in place. No hours spent gluing walls together and sticking on endless strips of shingles. The same is true with the addition as well as the 1-piece signalman’s bay window. As with all of our high quality, super detailed, resin kits all the hard work has been done for you including resin castings with little or no flash requiring very little cleanup. This kit literally assembles in minutes! After assembly, all that is needed is to paint, insert doors and windows and place on your layout. To complete this kit we have included a 2 piece herringbone pattern brick platform, 2 resin brick chimneys, 6 highly detailed resin crates, 6 highly detailed resin trunks, signs, stencil, 1 Baggage Cart by Jordan Highway Miniatures (that include 6 pieces of hand luggage)and 28 Grandt Line door and window castings complete with our laser cut glazing material. This kit easily builds into a beautiful depot that looks like you spent weeks painstakingly scratch building... only you will know how easy it really was.

Dimensions of building and addition are 11½ x 3¾” and the platform is 12 x 1½”.
