Scale 169’ 2 Track Station Float
This kit represents a 2 Track Station Float built in the early 1950's to ferry rail cars to be loaded or unloaded directly at piers or ships. These were also commonly used to transfer freight cars across the harbor.
The kit's actual size is 167' long, 39' wide, 5' 3" freeboard (approx.) and 16' distance from center line to center line of the track at the bow. It features a welded steel hull and will accommodate 6, 40' rail cars (3 per side).
Our kit consists of highly detailed resin castings featuring scale weld lines, scuttle hatches, cleat bases and toggle pockets already cast in place. The parts in this kit require very little cleanup allowing quick assembly time.
One of the unique details of our kit is the Micro Engineering Company's code 100 nickel silver rail cast into place on the deck for realistic loading and unloading of your float using your locomotive (Yes, they did run switch engines onto the real car floats!).
Also included is an easily assembled, highly detailed platform that may be built with or without the included roof. Highly detailed Britannia metal castings including cleats, bridge hooks, and tire bumpers (these are now cast resin) along with rope and chain allow you to build an accurate model of a very recognizable, everyday element of water front operations.
Looks great with one of our 92' Diesel Railroad Tugboats or 92' Steam Railroad Tugboats pushing it!
*Note: We have designed our Station Float Kit using prototype drawings and photos. We have tried to get as close to prototype dimensions as possible. We make no claims as to compatibility with other manufacturer's car float and/or float bridge dimensions.
*Due to the weight of this kit there will be $3.00 added to the cost of shipping.
