HO 1:87 Scale Cherokee Parts Store
HO 1:87 Scale Cherokee Parts Store
Designed by Thomas Yorke

"Back in 1940 Walker Evans photographed a garage in Atlanta, Georgia. That one photo was the inspiration for this HO kit. The front wall is well documented, however, the remainder of the building is a mystery. Artistic license was used in its development." -Thomas Yorke

Cherokee Parts Store is a wooden shop building with metal front that offers an opportunity to super detail not only the outside, but the inside as well. There are 2 interior office walls that allow for displaying innertubes and hubcaps (included) and the front and back large, position-able doors allow for scene staging that is visible from the outside. There is a shelf with batteries visible through the front window as well. The level of character and detail on this is outstanding!

HO 1:87 Scale Armstrong Barrel and Box Company
HO 1:87 Scale Armstrong Barrel and Box Company
Designed by James & Anna Cleveland
Frenchman River Model Works

At the close of the Civil War, the Armstrong family moved to the picturesque Stinkwater Crik area. Having seen the tremendous need for barrels and boxes of every size they set up a booming factory. The family owned business flourished and grew until the stock market crash in the 20’s put the kibosh on the industry. Unfortunately, they had over extended their credit and the once prosperous factory fell into disrepair. Armstrong Barrel and Box Company still supplies product to the local businesses, but is a shadow of its former glory.

This kit consists of several main components. While this kit may seem a bit complex, it is actually designed to be a quick and easy build that requires minimal modeling skill, or can be made as complex as desired for the most advanced modeler. All resin castings have character and detail cast in place.

O/On30 1:48 Scale Chinese Laundry
O/On30 1:48 Scale Chinese Laundry
designed by Thomas Yorke

"This kit started out in the Frijole Flats Sketchbook as the Police Station. When I decided to do this one as a model kit, I expanded it into a Chinese Laundry and added the boiler and water tank. It can be built as either or both." -Thomas Yorke

The Chinese Laundry kit is a Main Street false front establishment packed with character due to its dilapidated façade. It can easily be built as an abandoned business or a slightly run down, yet still in business building ready for an endless potential for scene staging. A flight of stairs gains entrance to the second floor. A wooden water tank and boiler add extra detail making this a great addition to your scene or model railroad. This kit builds easily due to the resin walls, yet allows for as much detailing as desired to achieve your own unique results.

O/On30 1:48 Scale The Beanery Diner
O/On30 1:48 Scale The Beanery Diner
designed by Thomas Yorke

"Back in the Great Depression people did what they could to make a living. Beaneries and other lunch places sprung up in any empty field. This is a model of one of those beaneries made from the body of a Model A ford bus. The bus was parked in a vacant lot and the wheels removed along with the engine, radiator and fenders. It was blocked up on piers of some sort or other and a small kitchen was cobbled together from scrap wood and other salvaged materials. The interior was fitted with booths or other seats and small tables. The exterior was emblazoned with signs depicting what was offered inside and the place was open for business." -Thomas Yorke

This unique kit is reminiscent of the days of the American Great Depression when times were tough and resourcefulness was necessary to meet day to day needs and is perfect for wherever a touch of whimsy and nostalgia is wanted. This kit was designed by Thomas Yorke to use a diecast Russian bus model manufactured in the Ukraine, which is no longer readily available due to geopolitical happenings. Instead, we have included a hand cast resin bus body based on the American Model A commercial bus. This bus body has the same basic footprint as the one Tom used, but is slightly taller and has a more rounded roofline prototypical to the American bus version. Even though there is an extra window, the length remains the same as does the remainder of this kit.
